Manufacturer Description

The largest installation in the United States military is Joint Base San Antonio, comprised of the former Lackland Air Force Base, Randolph Air Force Base, and Fort Sam Houston. No other joint base has two Air Force bases, and only one other has installations not sharing a fence line. The base is under the Command of Air Education and Training Command (AETC), whose scope makes it the first command to touch the life of almost every Air Force member.

Separated by 15 to 25 miles each, the three bases comprising Joint Base San Antonio are home to 80,000 military and civilian employees performing 211 missions. The Air Force training capacity is so extensive that the base trains more than 150,000 students each year.

The rugged Joint Base San Antonio challenge coin features recessed and semi-sandblasted surfaces, highlighted with rich enamels. The obverse is the Air Education and Training Command crest, surrounded by "Randolph AFB-Lackland AFB-Fort Sam Houston-Joint Base San Antonio, TX." The reverse is the United States Air Force emblem.
